Lycamobile lays down the red carpet for British television stars of 2014
  • Lycamobile stays in style and in shot as the world’s media debate the best and worst dressed of the National Television Awards 2014
  • Exposure peaks at an enormous 6.3 million adults as prestigious awards show is broadcast to the nation
  • Global telecoms brand sponsored the red carpet at the awards show

Lycamobile took centre stage at the National Television Awards last night, as the great and the good of the television world gathered to decide the winners and losers of the year, not to mention the best and worst dressed of the night.

As the cameras flashed and the fans swarmed, Lycamobile’s red carpet played host to the usual smattering of fashion and faux pas, drawing comment from media across the globe. From the front pages of the tabloids, to style and beauty magazines, to blogs and endless debates on social media, celebrity pundits expressed their horror and delight at the sartorial choices of their beloved stars. Kelly Brook in particular shocked some fans – while no doubt delighting others – as her black dress fell victim to the harsh lights of the flashbulbs.

When guests reached the end of the red carpet, the serious judgement began, but more peculiar outfit choices were revealed as the evening continued. Scooping the Best TV Detective gong for Sherlock, Benedict Cumberbatch revealed a questionable pair of shorts in his acceptance speech live from Los Angeles as host Dermot O’Leary looked worriedly on.

Matt Smith and the Doctor Who team were the big winners throughout the night at the O2 Arena in London. While the show picked up the prize for Best Drama, Matt Smith took home the gong for Best Drama Performance, as he handed the baton to new Doctor, Peter Capaldi.

Unsurprisingly, Coronation Street’s Julie Hesmondhalgh picked up the award for Best Serial Drama Performance as old favourites Ant and Dec celebrated their return as the court jesters of British television, winning Best Entertainment Presenter and the prestigious Landmark award.

As the evening drew to a close, it became quietly clear that Lycamobile had once again provided a platform upon which a great variety of conversation was enjoyed, spanning throughout the UK and across the globe.
