Lycamobile proud sponsor of London Mela 2016

Lycamobile, the world’s largest international mobile virtual network operator, is a proud sponsor of London Mela 2016.

Now in its 14th year, and well established as one of the capital’s many cultural events, London Mela is a festival inspired by South Asia and its population within the UK and Europe. The event celebrates Asian culture and creativity and gives emerging artists a platform to showcase their work to a wide audience. This year, audience members included London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of Brent and Lycamobile Group Marketing Director Khalid Aziz.

This year’s event featured a range of different art forms including British Asian urban artists, dance, comedy and cabaret, Asian-influenced street theatre and circus, and many other exhibitions. The event is not just popular with South Asian communities. A third of the audience come from non-Asian communities, making it a truly intercultural family event with something for every generation and every community.

This year, Lycamobile’s third year sponsoring, was the first time the event took place at Wembley Park and, in addition to British Asian and international artists, featured a mouth-watering ‘Tastes of Asia’ food market.

With such a multicultural event focused on families and communities, two things at the heart of Lycamobile’s mission, it was the perfect place to give people the opportunity to learn more about what we do. The Mela featured a number of Lycamobile stalls, which highlighted our many services and offered free SIM cards and top-up facilities.
