Lycamobile named as fastest growing MVNO in Belgium
News
Lycamobile, the largest global provider of low-cost international mobile calls has this week been ranked as the fastest growing mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in Belgium.

The latest quarterly market report from Telecompaper confirms that Lycamobile has increased its customer base by 25 per cent in the past 12 months, placing it ahead of its competitor set for growth in the sector.

Lycamobile attributes this growth to its prodigious global marketing campaign which saw it offer free Lycamobile-to-Lycamobile calls across its 17 country network for the spring months.

Telecompaper showed that the number of customers at virtual mobile operators in Belgium grew to 3.25 million in Q3 2014 from 3.02 million a year earlier. Out of the 37 players active in the MVNO market in Belgium, only Telenet and Lycamobile managed to increase their customer numbers significantly, while many others lost customers or remained more or less stable.

Since launching in Belgium in 2007; Lycamobile has expanded rapidly to hold operations in 18 countries worldwide, including Australia and the USA. A global leader and the largest MVNO in the majority of countries in which it operates, its tenacious growth strategy has seen it increase its footprint to over 80 per cent of the EU population.

Lycamobile Chairman, Allirajah Subaskaran commented comments:
"Belgium is one of our legacy markets and we are incredibly proud of our sustained success and growth. Since our launch there in 2007, virtual operators have proven to be a fantastic force for good and customers continue to be convinced of our proposition."
