Lycamobile Begins to Roll out Its Services in South Africa in Partnership With Cell C
Lycamobile, the world’s largest mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), announces today that it has partnered with Cell C to start rolling out its services in South Africa. This development expands Lycamobile’s global network reach to 23 countries worldwide and marks the firm’s first launch in Sub-Saharan Africa.
South Africa is one of the largest telecommunications markets in Africa, with a population of over 55 million . Following this launch, South Africans will have the opportunity to connect with friends and family through Lycamobile’s low-cost calling, texting and data services.
Telecommunications is a fast-growing sector of South Africa’s economy, with approximately 85 million unique cellular subscriptions . As such this launch represents an opportunity for Lycamobile to expand its offering to a large and active customer base with excellent growth potential.
