Lycamobile and West Ham United celebrate the launch of the Lycamobile Cup
To mark the success of their long standing collaboration and the launch of  a new community project, the Lycamobile Cup; West Ham United and the Lycamobile Group gathered on Thursday 5th December for a celebratory dinner at Upton Park.

Hosted by West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce in the Chairman's Suite, the evening was attended by West Ham Community coaches and several representatives from the world of sport, media and entertainment, including Essex and England cricketer Ravi Bopara and BBC Sports host Manish Bhasin.

A round of speeches throughout the night both praised the partnership and showcased exciting plans for the future - not least West Ham's hotly anticipated move to the Olympic Stadium - and the evening culminated in a raffle to raise money for the Community Sports Trust.

The Lycamobile Cup is a tripartite endeavour between Lycamobile, West Ham United Football Club and their Community Sports Trust.  A pioneering youth football tournament, its long-term goal is to encourage a generation of youngsters to play football and get involved in healthy competition. Open to under-12 and under-14 teams, it was launched by West Ham and Lycamobile representatives at West Ham's community hub in Beckton in early December. The first of five competitive heats has already taken place with great success: over 160 children participated from schools and football clubs across four East London Boroughs. The next regional Lycamobile Cup tournament will take place at Chobham Academy in February 2014; the remaining rounds are scheduled for between February and April 2014.

The initiative will culminate in an exclusive finals day for the players and their families at the Boleyn Ground in May 2014, where finalists will enjoy the opportunity of a lifetime to play on the hallowed West Ham turf, following in the famous footsteps of their Hammers heroes.
